A Meandering Life...

Bangers, Bobbies, Bean and Blues

My main postcard today is our Blipmeet with Bean and her mum Mima at what I can only describe as their Good Life homestead. Thank you both for being excellent hosts, we enjoyed our visit very much. I agree totally with you about Blipmeets.

My extra has a selection of things that got my attention as we drove north from Dunedin to Oamaru. The Old Ford cars are for sale if you're interested, I don't have anymore room in my suitcase. I was tempted to join the policeman's picnic but thought better of it. The roadsigns were near Mima's and the bottom shot of the Blue penguins was evening's entertainment.

It wasn't until I booked to see the penguins that we were told photography was not allowed during the 'show'. The show started at 8:15pm but by then 30-40 penguins had already scuttled to their nests. So officially I took this photo 20 mins before the show began. ;o)

The fact photography was banned was announced over a loud tannoy at the same time we were told to be very quit! By the time another group of penguins appeared the heavens opened and thunder and lightening surrounded us. Those in the premium seats nearer where the nests are didn't get a good view of the dozen or so who came over to us and climbed through the stands near our feet on a short cut home. By now we were getting very wet and cold so having seen a good 50+ of the little critters we made our way out to be meet by 2 coach loads coming in.

It has been the first time during our long trip that rains had some effect on our activies. Tomorrow may be similar but it's a travel day as we head back to Christchurch.
