Swans returned
The mist came in as the morning got lighter; it lifted in the afternoon. Caught up on the newspaper, had a desk morning. The new pictures for the Nature Notes book are now in the online chapters. March has a barn owl in 1979 and a wren in 1985.
Out in the afternoon by London Road and Regent Road; two rabbits on the bowling green. Down across Calton Road to Holyrood park. There are swans back at St Margarets Loch for the first time for months; we counted 9, a mixture of adult plumage and last year's juveniles. Some tufted ducks, mallards, and gulls, and visitors feeding the birds.
Back by no 44 bus, and through by St James and Multrees walk. Some of the youngsters were dressed for high summer, NE breeze notwithstanding.
