Beauty is all around us.

The Heart of Accrington.

There is a campaign afoot called CATCH and the main aim is to try and preserve the heart of Accrington Town Centre.
In recent years, many of the big brand stores have left the town, taking customers and shoppers to the fairly newly renovated Blackburn Mall.
I photographed these beautiful Victorian buildings this morning and when put alongside each other, I think they create a favourable impression of Accrington. The Town Hall and Market Hall were visited by the Queen and Prince Philip last year. The bottom left and right are views of the shopping area looking towards Broadway, which is pedestrianised and adorned with flower towers.
There is need for considerable investment if the heart of the town is to be sustained and improved.
My favourite shops there are W H Smiths, Store 21, Boots and Wilkinsons.
I also go to the opticians there. Sadly the recent flash flooding caused damage to the Victorian market hall and ruined some of the artifacts in the Community museum run by volunteers.
The group Catch, (Campaign for Accrington's Town Centre Heart), are growing in number and are doing all they can as a caring team of volunteers, to unite the retailers and work alongside the Council, to attract back the big name retailers and bring prosperity to Accrington.
After all, this is the birth place of one of my favourite musicians, Jon Anderson.
Have a good Wednesday blipper friends.
