"anchored down in Anchorage"

This afternoon we took a hike up Flattop Mountain located in Chugach State Park just outside Anchorage.

There is a 45 degree talus slope near the top where many people fall and require airlift due to broken ankles and head injuries. It is the most climbed mountain in the state of Alaska.

The kinder (shown above) climbed it easily and cousin K (on the right) has even been up here in snowshoes. S, L and I made an intelligent decision to avoid personal injury and a $7000 medivac helo ride, but Uncle Andrew surprised the kinder by becoming the largest land mammal to ascend to the top this century...

The exuberant hikers were rewarded with their choice of gourmet pizza at the "Moose's Tooth", reknowned for the best pizza in Alaska. Andrew and I enjoyed the "Bear Tooth Ale" on tap...
