Doing a Reggie...
Helped my BIL out first thing with a trip to Galgate to collect a wooden desktop which had been made to his specifications for an absolute steal.
When we walked into the workshop to pick it up, the smell of the place was just divine. Seeing our enthusiasm, the joiner (I think he was called Rick) dug out some different woods for us to take in. With my insurance head on, the place was a frickin’ nightmare with timber everywhere, chemicals too and a big ol’ pile of sawdust everywhere too, but oh, the smell!
With the desktop and BIL dropped off and both in situ, I sat on his driveway with a cup of tea for a little while and enjoyed the sunshine and then headed out to a little place on the west coast. Parking up on a grass verge, I changed into my boots and wandered over the rocks and stones to a little sandbank where I took some photos and breathed in the sea air. Big, deep lungfuls of the stuff and it felt good. So good in fact, that I considered doing a Reginald Perrin and captured the moment here.
Thinking better of it, I returned to the shoreline and did some beach combing, actually finding some nice wood that will be dried out, chopped up and put on the fire. I also found plastic stuff. LOTS of plastic stuff. Everywhere!
Tired from my efforts, I crashed out on the sofa in the back of the van and enjoyed the elements whilst I sat and tried to learn some lines.
The next thing I knew I was waking up from a lovely nap and knew then that it was probably time to head for home.
Brilliant day.
