New Neighbor

The Bryantown Tavern is one of the few remaining structures of historic Bryantown. It used to be a bustling town, but now there are only a few remaining buildings. Today, we noticed (actually, it was my favorite blip-spotter who noticed) that one of the buildings is being gutted. We stopped to check it out. While I was taking a photo, a car drove up. It was the new owner (extra) of the house! He was so fun to meet. He said that he bought the building from a former CIA agent. He was excited about owning such an historic property. He generously shared the history of the property and even posed for photos! He said the PBS will be doing a special about the old tavern and his restoration work. They will start filming in about ten days.
The second extra is of the Civil War Trail sign by the tavern that tells a bit of the history. I was a docent at the Dr. Mudd House Museum for a number of years and am very knowledgeable about this area, so it was extra exciting for me to hear that this place is being properly restored.
