Our Madrid Barrio
A cold and wet day. We had coffee in our room (our wee travel kettle was such a good buy in Cairo all those years ago!), and did our usual daily word puzzles. I looked at the exhibitions on, but none really took our immediate fancy. I googled ‘traditional restaurants in Madrid’ and when I showed the list to Bb, he said that his taxi driver yesterday had recommended one of the first on the list. Great! We booked for the 3pm sitting and both did some desk work before heading out. Wet and miserable and so we didn’t dally, but went straight there. Just 10 mins away, Casa Ciriaco. Lovely lunch of a shared plate of artichoke hearts with a little Spanish ham, then tripe for Bb and a beef stew for me. All delicious and warming. Very busy and Spanish noisy. Back to our pension for a wee rest and watched an episode of The Apprentice. Now out and inTaberna Real, another favourite. We were very lucky to get a table as nobody was outside on the terrace today! We had a bird’s eye view into the kitchen and good to see a happy staff. The other was also taken from our table. The one of Bb is at lunch.
