I wanted to see how the herons were doing. You may remember there were already lots of nests a few weeks ago. Bad news. One of these really big old trees came down in a storm so they’ve had to start all over again. (In an extra).  They were hard at work.

They’ve still not mended the lovely area where you can sit and enjoy the happy birds. They’ve felled a lot of the trees and it’s still a mess. (But I went into the forbidden area and this blue tit was happy that I took him some seed,)

But my capture of the day is the water rail (rare and elusive) and on the right of the coot in the extra.
