Names change, buildings remain.
This is the Old Courthouse Inn in Chulmleigh, The building is old and was the only pub I couldn't get a drink in in the summer before my 18 birthday. Nothing to do with rules, more to do with far too many people who knew when my Birthday was :-).
At the time it was known as the Barnstaple Inn and due to how close to my childhood home it was I had been familiar with it and it skittles alley and it 'beer garden' up the side for years. The village has trouble now keeping 3 pubs going at full strength, the two others are owned by the same people and they open the bigger pub most of the time and the other only at the end of the week for a quieter clientele and a limited menu. Mean while The Courthouse Inn has kept going and is currently having a renaissance.
The building is from the 16oo's and is one of the many coach houses in the village. There are at least 6 or 7 homes in the village that are old coaching inns, I used to love walking round working out which had been Inns and how they were laid out (all very similar). Strange having such old information available just to a random walker.
