More history
A day in Bathurst today as my ute was recalled for some computer reprogramming. I’m not convinced there was anything wrong with it but it was a great opportunity to visit 59 and Bob and then for the 4 of us to spend an hour or two at the railway museum.
It’s all about the history of the railway to Bathurst, an engineering masterpiece! It was extended 150 kms from Penrith to Bathurst in 16 years from 1860 to 1876 with numerous stone viaducts, 2 ZigZags across the mountains and 2 river crossings on iron bridges.
The museum contains a magnificent operating model of the last section into Bathurst - the blip shows an old steam engine pulling out of Tarana station. The extra shows the real deal permanently displayed outside.
