Choice....s
We get two choices at German national elections. One X for a direct named candidate & a second X for a party. So you may have an excellent local Social (UK Labour) party MP candidate & at same time give your second vote to Greens or Conservative party. Half of Germany's parliament is made up of directly (first past the post) voted MPs, the other half allotted by the parties according to the % of 2nd X votes they got.
One of the hardest choices this time around. My choices won't play a role in the next government. Very sadly at 6pm tonight, it became reality how far right the former East Germany has turned. Ironic given that from 1945 until 1990 the East acussed the West of being Nazi fascists!
However, even here in my parish, a very rural but structural, employment, safety, health issues are good, 25% voted far-right. I don't understand it. The far right doesn't have one single positive policy on anything.
