Pre-heat or pre-glow as in what you do when starting a cold diesel motor. In Germany also used in connection with getting somewhat 'tanked up' before a party, especially for the younger ones who can't afford the expensive disco drinks and get whole thing started at home where cost is manageable.

Today, three of the local village's youth clubs, got their carnival floats together for a small party but to invite everyone to come and have a look at them close up before the real processions start next weekend  and last till Tuesday.
