Hunter Square

This is Hunter Square behind the Tron Church looking over to the dome of the University’s Old College on South Bridge. The only time to see it this quiet is early as it is usually thronged with tourists, coffee drinkers and more often than not a posse of vagrants lounging beside the wall of the Tron.

I’m really happy that parts of the UK are awash with sunshine and warmth but it’s not like that here despite any ravings of good weather and high temperatures the BBC will no doubt put out on their evening news bulletin. In Edinburgh it’s officially 9 ° feeling like 0° in a strong blustery wind  which nearly sent my bunnet soaring into space as I walked home from the shops.

To beat the gloom I chopped my way into producing  another large pan of vegetable soup. I no longer care what goes into it as long as I can use up most of what lies in the veggie drawer in the fridge.
As I chopped, the balconists appeared on the scaffolding above my head. I make it a record that they have been here 3 consecutive days. They seem to be putting the final touches to whatever is happening on the balconies above me. My down pipe appears to have been fixed but we haven’t had any heavy rain to put it to the test and they have removed the yellow bucket which was my safety net if it still leaks.
