Getting there

We woke to a sharp frost.  And although we took our time with breakfast it was still quite chilly when we got outside, with a very cold wind.

W pressed on with sorting the area around the raised beds, distributing a thick layer of wood chips as a mulch.

I planted the hellebores and heucheras we bought from the Garden Centre a few days ago.  I've also planted some erythronium bulbs between them, but we bought them last autumn, and I'm not sure how well they've survived the winter in their little paper bags - they seemed rather dried out.

W then made us pancakes for lunch.

And I spent the afternoon in the sewing room.
