View over Grassholme Reservoir
A welcome break from everything in the form of a day's walking with my rambling chums, Chris and Steve. The former had once again found a scenic walk for us to do as well as some accommodation for the evening.
We were blessed with great weather, which made for a terrific walk, setting off from Middleton-in-Teesdale and starting out with a bracing climb up the Pennine Way.
We stopped for lunch by an old decrepit barn, and, fortunately for our stomachs, only noticed the mummified cow's carcass in there once we'd finished eating.
After that it was a leisurely descent down to Grassholme Reservoir and it was as we'd completed our walk around it that I recognised the observatory where Dan and Abi brought me last year.
We stayed over in the Teesdale Hotel, which was very nice, would recommend, and after twelve miles of walking we were ready for a few beers and their 'Pie night'.
