Gently down the stream

Great tit

Today I went up to the butterfly reserve.  Just checking the state of play, you know!  Despite the relative warmth of a beautiful day I only saw one very fresh male brimstone flying at speed from nowhere to nowhere.  I mean, I'm surprised I even saw that because despite the warmth there was nothing up there for a butterfly to feed on.  On that whole enormous hillside I saw only two rather scrubby primrose plants.  It is a bit early for cowslips but there wasn't even any blossom yet, like the wild cherry I found nearer to home in mid February.

So that meant it was birds or nothing and I did see quite a lot of them.  This little guy was part of a mixed flock of tits flitting about on the ridge.  Apart from that it was mostly robins, blackbirds, crows and one of the kestrels.  And it was a very beautiful walk!

So that's it from me.  Enjoy your evening  xx
