Cliveden
National Trust :)
Day off today.
A bad night's sleep, stupidly hot for some reason - yet was frozen when I went to bed. Woke wih a headache, feeling tired - but decided I needed to get out.
Such a beauiful day and took myself off to Cliveden National Trust, near Maidenhead, Berkshire. Its one of the two properties local to me.
When I got there it was fairly quiet and how I like it, but by the time I came away - it was heaving (and this on a Monday, when its not school holidays)!
Found out later, it is the first day of house tours. I wasn't interested in those - the house is a posh hotel...
Anyway, I went for the usual coffee and cheese scone, then went off on a walk around. Very proud to say I've done more than 4,000 steps today - the first long walk I did without crutches was around 2,600 steps at Greys Court National Trust back in January :)
Just as I got to the end of the Parterre, I saw this bird (red kite I think - judging by the large white patch on the wing). Unfortunately by the time I got close enough, it was just flying off. Never been so close to one before, almost level with my eyes :)
And so many extras including one of the red kite? with the patch on the wing :)
