Sunny Sunday
The walk up the road was lovely and sunny, though still sub-zero at 9.15am. I had a day off from acolyte duty at St Luke’s, but my feet - warmed up by the brisk walk - became frozen again sitting in the ‘Lawrence pew’ amongst the main congregation. At least I could keep my padded coat and gloves on, which you can’t do when sitting beside the altar table. My friend Helen passed me a cruise company brochure after the service, to have a peruse through it. We’ll meet up at a later date with Sheila and decide on what we want to book. We’ll probably do one around the British coast to start off with, but I’d also like to go to the Norwegian fjords at some point in the future. We all prefer the smaller ships offered to the gigantic behemoths used by other lines.
Home for a quick lunch in the Arctic wastelands of the bungalow, then over to Christine and David’s for a lovely hot shower (the boiler still not being fixed of course). Margaret arrived just as I emerged all nice and clean and warmed up, and the four of us set about sorting through Christine’s brother’s large model car collection, matching empty boxes to cars, and putting them back in. This should hopefully make them worth more at auction, with any cash going towards the care home fees. We managed to get most of the boxes reunited with their original contents, but there were still quite a few cars without boxes which we grouped into different makes (ie Lledo and Matchbox), and boxes with no car that matched the descriptions.
Back in the igloo, I watched the ‘Dancing on Ice’ and ‘Great Pottery Throwdown’ semi-finals from under the cosy electric throw on the sofa. It is now Day 9 of the great boiler breakdown :-(
