I made someone cry today
Today was the last day the show was held in the Hope church, but right before we finished taking pictures off the wall a new person came in and was so touched by the pictures that they nearly cried and of course I nearly cried too.
My friends and I spent tons of time talking. I only pick the best people to be friends with so let me brag about one of them - the Anne Marshall who is having her 15 minutes of fame for quitting: https://www.wired.com/story/doge-engineering-director-resign/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3cntVzBj5Xwb-FhZrb-5YpyrrjaM2IaiJo0c3g0oRPZVIpeGCEZvM3Vws_aem_fWVRrLWBSzCgCmlsUpm0HA
Then we delivered them to their next venue which is in Glen Echo, MD. Glen Echo has an old amusement park that was the site of desegregation protests, a beautiful combining of Jewish and Black forces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxLQGrKNysk
I talked with a friend I’ve been worried about but she’s ok. Her company has laid off 95% of its work force. When it is her turn she’ll go live with her parents in Omaha, Nebraska and job hunt there. She said that there is a group of about a hundred people who were laid off a month ago. Not only are they not finding jobs, they aren’t even getting interviews. Now I know to start job hunting in other states.
Her company has not been paid for work done in December, never mind January. Yes, the judge did order the overlords to pay their bills. Yes, the judge ordered them again when they didn’t do it. The Supreme Court has stayed the order and will hopefully rule soon. The company is responsible for safeguarding millions of dollars of US property but cannot pay its employees. It can no longer get loans. It is violating local labor laws in foreign countries because it simply does not have money to pay the local staff and is laying them off without the required notice and severance.
The Institute for the Study of War says that Russia’s year long effort to take Pokrovsk has, so far, failed. ISW said Ukrainian forces are inflicting “unsustainable losses” on Russian forces.
Temper tantrum Donny’s treatment of Zelensky has encouraged Europe to use even more of Russia’s frozen assets. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer not only gave Zelensky a hug but announced a loan of $2.8 billion funded through freezing of Russian assets.
Canada has imposed new sanctions on 31 Russian individuals and Russian paramilitary groups.
