Twisted Arm

After a lazy breakfast, Merlin and I walked in our local woods. At this time of year, without the leaves on the trees, the place has a sense of lightness and colour about it.

On our wanders we found this tree with an interesting branch which has grown in the opposite direction to the one that would be expected. I think this may be due to the restricted space created by the tree immediately next to it, or perhaps the branch was twisted back at sometime in its early life.

We also found the remains of a WW2 troops camp which housed Canadian and French soldiers and army vehicles in the weeks and months ahead of the D-Day landings. There are other similar camps in the area. Many were apparently located in woods to reduce the chances of them being seen by enemy reconnaissance aircraft.

To round the day off, Andy made a tasty chicken madras curry adapted from a Hairy Bikers recipe.
