UKRAINIAN MEMORIAL
I am in Oswestry today and staying the night with my Cousin Pam, it’s her Birthday tomorrow. We met outside my favourite yarn shop, Ewe&Ply and I popped in for a catch-up with one of the owners, T, oh and a good drool over all the gorgeous yarn on view. Didn’t have time to choose some for my next project though. Pam then took me to the Memorial Hall where the Ukrainian Memorial was being held: an afternoon for Ukrainian life stories, crafts, music and food. #oswestryukraine #oswestrylife. It was all very emotional and apart from films of war torn Ukraine, singing, music and food, it was then about saying a huge thank you and paying tribute to sponsors and all the kind and generous people of Oswestry who had helped them in some way, providing accommodation, taking them into their own homes (I thought of you LizzieBirkett) and giving aid of all kinds to Ukraine itself. At the end of the presentation the Ukrainians stood together and sang their National Anthem. You can just imagine the applause and huge emotion.
We then had a spot of lunch in a gorgeous book cafe, lots of lovely books and cards to view. On the way back to Pam’s we stepped into the Willow Gallery to check out the latest wonderful mixed media items on display. Finally at Pam’s we had tea in her garden, so nice to sit in the sunshine and feel a bit of warmth at last.
Dinner, lots of chat and a fairly early night for both of us. Too tired to blip.
Extras: more from the EM.
