Trees, Pancakes & Puddings
Firstly, here’s my beloved Acer tree in the garden with its bare late winter look. This is to honour Joe Tree, who founded Blipfoto and nurtured it with the simple rules that we should post one photo a day, taken on that day, and that we should be excellent to one another. Simple but so, so powerful. And what a wonderful place it is to this day, with people making friends around the world.
I spent another day without heating and hot water, trying to keep warm. This was achieved in the afternoon by baking my family’s favourite Waffle Berry Pudding - the oven being on made the kitchen nice and cosy, and my hands were warmed by the hot water from the kettle which I used for washing up the bowls and utensils while the pudding was baking. It emerged looking and smelling heavenly! Just before 6pm I put foil round it, packed it into a thermal bag and took it along to the St Luke’s annual Pancakes & Puddings evening. Our Rector, Anne-Marie, cooked a constant stream of delicious traditional pancakes and there were plenty of other puddings to indulge ourselves with (see Extra for the puddings table, with my huge Waffle Berry Pudding in the foreground on the right). We were raising funds towards the upkeep of the church buildings and the community work of St Luke’s. After we’d all stuffed ourselves with loads of pud, we played a game of ‘Beetles’, which includes much moving around from one table to another and a lot of laughter as the game progresses. A great evening to warm the heart as well as the body.
