St David’s’ Day

Gloriously sunny and frosty.  We walked up the hill behind a pub called the Goose and Cuckoo and over some moorland.  Nearest village Llanover, the sign to he moorland seemed to say Cwmavon but it’s not an area I really know.   Our hostess was brought up here and has a small house next to her mother.  This photo was during our lunch at the pub, daffodils on every table for St David’s Day.  Disappointingly few welsh dishes on the menu but we had good local beer and a nice lunch.

Back at the house I picked flowers from garden and verge to do posies for the table and polished up some silver.

It was our host, Jonathan’s 60th birthday and they had 20 or so local friends for dinner.  Catered by a local team it was delicious food and a jolly evening.

Spring really felt in the air today but we obviously have a long way to go!
