Joe Tree Day 2025

My Things app reminds me each year on 1st March to take a photo of a tree for Joe Tree Day, so I went outside this afternoon to get a shot of the branches of our magnificent oak tree silhouetted against the blue sky, and I started to take a few shots …

… and then I became aware of a slight commotion a few feet away from me on the lawn.

Having the wrong camera in my hand for such an event, I grabbed one shot of the developing scenario with my wide angle lens, then rushed indoors to grab the camera with the telephoto lens. The sparrowhawk wasn’t interested in me at all, for obvious reasons. I took a series of shots, and this was the final one, which was my favourite.

So, my apologies to Joe Tree for uploading a different shot to the one I was intending to use to honour Joe Tree Day 2025, and a huge thank you to him for starting this wonderful site where I have been fortunate to meet so many lovely, kind, talented and encouraging people.
