Dolly's Day

CAKE

I went to the Metrocentre today to meet up with Becky and Astrid,  They travelled on the train from Northallerton to Newcastle and then on another train to the Metrocentre.  They arrived at around 10.30am.  We went straight to Cafe Nero for refreshments.  I had a cappuccino and a blueberry muffin ( forgot to take a photo ).

The we proceeded to have a wander around the malls.  The place was packed at its the half term holiday.  Becky did some shopping.

At 2pm we went to watch The Metrognomes.  They are the Metrocentre’s cuddly gnome characters Herbert, Sherbet, Maggot and Rusty. The Metrognomes entertain children (and parents!)  with free shows and activities during school holidays.  They have been performing every day this week - 4 shows a day..  Becky and Astrid sat down on the floor near the front and I sat on a bench at the side.  Not a good position to get photos so the ones I took weren't very good.  The show seemed to go on and on with not much of a storyline... Astrid got bored so we quit before the end.

More shopping ... then to Cafe W in Waterstones bookshop for more refreshments.  Another cappuccino for me plus a slice of chocolate biscoff cake - as seen in my blip shot. ( can you tell I haven't been " on plan " today ).

Then it was time for Becky and Astrid to catch a train back to Newcastle and then another back home.  It won't be long before I see them again.... in fact it will be tomorrow as Im going down to stay with them for the weekend.

Steps today - 12,696   ( the walk round the Metrocentre was almost 6 miles )
