The Woman in Black

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

Caro is on call this week!

What this means is that people can call at any time to advise her that someone in the nursing home, or hospice or in their own home has departed.

She will then make arrangements for that person to be taken to the home and for preparations to start for whatever the family wants.

She MAY have to actually go and pick up the person out-of-hours. This would also require another funeral director to go with her, because they never do this alone.

I am very proud of her. She is a little stressed because this is her first ever on-call and she doesn't want to make any mistakes. But I know how amazing she is, I see it every day.

Here she is with the ute. Because she's on-call she has to drive it this week. She kind of loves it. She loves a big grunty vehicle, but our next door neighbour, not so much.

"It's a bit depressing, isn't it?" she asked.

Honestly, people can be so weird. It's actually very tasteful. I've driven around in it with Caro and aside from the fact that it doesn't have Caro's playlist going, it's fine.

People are weird.
