Dunnock
Off to see eldest son and his family today. As he has moved, this involves a bus and train. Not too bad, I get there just after 11, just in time for coffee and for me to receive birthday presents. Grand-daughter wakes up after her morning nap, so spend some time watching her slowly moving around the floor. Babies develop so quickly. Just before 12, we're off for my birthday meal at a nice wee restaurant.
After lunch, we head off to an area that has some bird hides as daughter-in-law in a wildlife photographer. We get to the first hide to find the bad weather has affected the door lock, os the key she has doesn't fit. Anyway we have some bird treats, so we get photos of the more confident birds. This photo of a dunnock is my best one. Whilst watching these birds, a sparrowhawk flies through the wooded area to our left tp take out something in the bushes. We then head to some other hides to see it we can spot a kingfisher. No luck, as another hide is being cleaned. We spot some owl pellets on the way back to the car, but not the owl. A quick drive to a carpark, and then a walk along a large stream. This gives us another chance to spot a kingfisher (but we don't). Then back to the car and his house for afternoon coffee before I head home.
When I get home, I relax for a few minutes, the start constructing a shelf unit for my partner as part of her craft room reorganisation. This is completed before tea, so a few brownie points there.
