wild horses, Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park

last day of camping trip
We went up the observation tower again, still hoping to see some bison- even far away, but no luck. We did see a different group of horses, as there was no black one in yesterday's group. All weekend we did see deer in the park, saw two owls, and lots of frogs that hop onto the road through the swamp area, after the sun goes down. Returning at different times of year would open more possible sights- huge flocks of migrating Sandhill Cranes stop here in the fall. We didn't check all the trails, and there are other things of interest in the area. It's too far for a normal weekend trip, but maybe someday...
