Suitable Attire
Perfectly suitable attire for camping.
Today, incredibly, Katie was the last one awake! Karen, Bear, Bean and I played in the boys' room for a while until she popped her head around the door. It didn't take very long before she was joining in :) The boys learned very quickly that roaring wasn't appreciated greatly by their guest and so the roaring stopped. I was very proud of them!
The borrowed Espace was collected, and once we were packed Karen and Steve spent a while getting the seats arranged to perfection so that we had maximum space for all our gear, plus all three children could be safely rear-facing with one adult forward facing to look after them in the back. I have a new-found love for the Espace. Everything fitted. Including 3 adults and 3 children. While they were playing with the car, I was watching the children who had raided the book cupboard and were "reading" books to each other - and who leapt at the chance to shout "cheeeeese!" at me!
Steve found the campsite easily, and much to the kids' delight we discovered ducks and a trampoline in the grounds - so I played with the children and left Karen and Steve to set the tent up. A much better arrangement than trying to get husband and wife to pitch a tent together I think ;) It didn't take long before the little ones discovered they could crawl under the flimsy gauze divider between the two sleeping areas so we just did away with it altogether and had Steve sleeping at one end by himself, the boys and I zipped up in a couple of joined-up sleeping bags, and Karen and Katie under a duvet at the other end. Practically family ;) Bean and Katie announced at one point they were going to sleep together - erm, no!!
We'd packed a load of food anticipating cooking dinner when we got there, but the pub called to us and we found ourselves sharing three meals between the six of us - and most of it got eaten! A proper sharing affair.
Dinner eaten, the children wanted sleep so one by one we took them off to bed. Bear went for a wrap walk with Daddy, Katie was snoring before too long, and Bean didn't take very long to fall asleep either. And once they were all asleep the SweetDustyBones family arrived! I've never seen a tent pop up (literally) so quickly :D Boo and Bash safely transferred inside, we spent a happy while playing with poi and nattering away.
Happy happy :)
