Gloucester cathedral

A friend of ours is a tour guide at Gloucester cathedral. A while ago he offered us a private tour around the cathedral including the crypt and places not usually visited by the public. How could we resist!
We knew that our little Stratford Blippers group would also be interested in going , so we, Mr and Mrs Fitzbilly , Mr and Mrs StevenG and Hildasrose and Rob had a great day out visiting this amazing place which has been a religious site since an Abbey was built there in the 7th century.
It has by turns,  been enlarged, burnt,  flooded, neglected and rebuilt since then and is now a magnificent place. A fascinating tour, thanks Nigel.
Main photo is the cloisters where some of the Harry Potter film sequences were filmed, and the extra is the sun shining through the stained glass windows onto the huge  old stone columns. On the right hand side of the coloumns you can see a fairly modern statue of the original Abbess, Kyneburga.
