Flickering

Our new head of engineering joined the performance call this morning. It was good for our teams to see how much work goes into monitoring everything we have built. The remainder of the day was quiet.

As we progress towards the end of this phase of work, I am spending a lot of my time looking at the edge cases to ensure we have filled all the gaps. It's hard to see the small gaps in our logic where something unintended might happen. Our change workflows are going to need some thorough testing.

We had a Friday night in with BBC Four and Top of the Pops (1997, 1981, and 1987). I hadn't heard XTC on the radio (or television) for a long time.

When I was heading to bed, I switched on the stair lights. This light is on the wall at the top of the stairs. A few years ago, I replaced the expensive bulbs that blow a lot with even more costly LEDs because they last longer, and there might be some energy saving. There are four identical light fittings in a row. Ever since I did the LED replacement, this one flashes. I don't mind, but PY doesn't like it. Neither of us has replaced it. I stood looking at it while taking the picture, wondering why we'd never retrieved another bulb from the box to see if it had the same effect. And then, I continued to bed and didn't do it.
