Kimchi bokkeumbap
The afternoon was quite busy in the office. I had an in-person one-on-one with my boss, which made a nice change, and G ran a workshop in the afternoon to plan for some of the coming changes.
Last week, C and I didn't do our monthly meet-up. We'd missed it by the time I realised it was the the last Thursday. Instead, we said we would try to find somewhere different and inside for today's catch-up. So, we met at The Crown on Brewer Street, where she was standing outside with a colleague. I didn't immediately see her as she was wrapped head-to-toe in a very warm-looking coat that somewhat smothered her. When her colleague left, there were still no seats inside the pub, so we wandered Soho looking for somewhere with a seat. Thursday night is not the night to quickly find a nice seat in a bar.
In the end, we were back at The White Swan because we noticed one of their outdoor tables was free. But after a couple of drinks, we concluded it was too cold to sit outside, so we moved to Mildreds, where I continued my rule of not ordering anything "chick+n" but broke my rule of avoiding tofu.
Kimchi bokkeumbap is a popular Korean dish that translates to "kimchi fried rice." It's traditionally made by stir-frying kimchi and rice, often incorporating other ingredients like meats and vegetables. Mildreds' plant-based version contained salt and pepper tofu and was delicious. I will definitely order that again.
Cornelia got chatting to the table next to us, and it transpired that one of the women had previously worked for the chain, so it was a good sign that she wanted to eat there.
Having dinner made the evening shorter and considerably less boozy, so I was home just after 11pm.
