Kintsugi

For simisue:

I first read about Kintsugi several years ago on Edmund de Waal's Instagram feed.  His most recent entry about kintsugi was on 11 February.  If you don't follow him, I'm sure you would love him.  I don't have the patience or manual dexterity to practice kintsugi "properly" as the Japanese (and Edmund de Waal) would.  However, I can mix a glue and add powdered gold and use a tiny paintbrush to repair minor chips.  I started very simply with this bowl that had lost a flake of glaze from the rim.  After filling the missing area, I had some gold glue on my brush and decided to follow the pattern on the glaze, making a sort of lightning strike (or possibly a tadpole).  The bowl is still going strong many years later and is the one I always look for in the cupboard.
