Songs of Praise

Songs of Praise on BBC today visited two beautiful churches we know.

The first dedicated to St Hilary of Poitiers in the tiny village of St Hilary, Cornwall.
We have visited here many times. One of my ancestors is buried in the graveyard and my mum and dad lived nearby.
The paintings, which adorn the inside of the church, were done by the Newlyn artists in the 1920s and 30s.

The second church of St Michael and All Angels is in the small Yorkshire village of Garton-on-the-Wolds.
We came across this church two years ago on the way back from Bridlington.
Stepping inside we were blown away by what we saw.
In 1872-80 Sir Tatton Sykes of Sledmere House paid architect and artist, Clayton and Bell, to decorate the church from top to bottom. Fabulous murals and Spanish tiles.
Absolutely stunning.

It was lovely to see them both and see them full and enjoyed the singing too.

We have had sad news today. Four people have passed away. Not people we knew but one related to my brother-in-law, one related to our dear friends, and two fellow Blippers.
RIP to them all.
We must always make the most of every day.
