A Damp Morning in Kirkwall
A bleak blowy morning. All bipeds tucked indoors. The rain was switched off about midday. Went into Town to meet Z. After lunch at HQ, I went to visit my Mum; she was very sleepy.
An unexpected missive arrived from Bernard (the George VIth stamp was a bit of a giveaway) . He's been contacted by Colonel Boateng, they were neighbours in what used to be Tangnyika in the early sixties. B had borrowed the Colonel's mower and he wants to know when he can expect its return. On top of that Bernard has been invited to play widow Twankey in the Tórshavn panto next December. He fears it may clash with his Seaglass Conference.
