Grumpy Old Man

Mountain memories

Wet and very windy this morning! I hate it! The wind began to die down during the morning, but the rain got heavier. We had planned to drive to Glasgow this afternoon and return on Sunday, 100 miles each way, but we then discovered that a yellow wind warning had been issued for Sunday so it didn't seem so sensible. Eventually we decided that MrsM would travel by train, Saturday to Monday, and I would stay at home and feed the cat!

After lunch the rain was still falling heavily, but we went down town to do some shopping. When we got home the rain stopped - typical!

I didn't risk my camera outside today, so my Blip is a picture of my Begonia hatacoa PGG 209, which I've Blipped several times before. I originally collected it as seed in the Nepal Himalayas and when it gets too big for its indoor space I take cuttings and offer the plant to anyone locally who has a conservatory in which to grow it. It's now reached nearly 3ft wide, so I'll take more cuttings and put the word around that there's a free plant going! It's not the most flamboyant begonia with its small pink flowers, but it's special to me.

Quote of the Day: 'The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain.' -  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
