Steamy Train

This morning I walked with G on Kelling Heath, over to Weybourne where we had a cuppa at the station. New drinks machines and tills were installed over the winter and both days I've visited this week the volunteers were struggling with the new technology. The steam train arrived just at the right time for a photo, I'm making the most of it running this week. The temperature was so much higher today, up to 14C, and the humidity has also been very high, which presumably explains why my osteoarthritis was more painful today than I've had it before.

This afternoon I went to the Thursdays at 3 concert at Cley church, it was actually colder inside the church than it was outside!!! It was a wonderful concert by a newly formed quartet called Orpheus Flutes performing their very first concert. They played flutes, alto flute and a bass flute (an odd looking instrument). The music was by Josef Myslivecek, Cristoph Williband Gluck and Mozart. Evidently Mozart and other composers at that time didn't like the flute which had a reputation of not keeping in tune, this was before changes in the 19th Century by Theobold Boehm. So Orpheus Flutes have arranged original music from Mozart's period which had been written for strings, for a flute quartet.  I thoroughly enjoyed the one hour concert (and the pear and ginger cake afterwards!).
