From the Railway Line
I walked into town this morning and down part of the old railway line to Spout Hills. This is the view over to the back of the Methodist church from the old route the railway used to take before the Beeching cuts. It was rather muddy today, and still cold out in the wind. This afternoon I watched Conclave on Amazon Prime with a £5 credit they’d sent me. A good film, well acted, but I was surprised it got best film at the BAFTAs. Having said that, I had read the book, so knew what was coming.
I lost in my discussions with Greshams. The fencing contractors turned up this morning with no notice and put the new fencing in where they originally planned and without removing the existing low wire fencing. They also didn’t clear the weeds between the old fence and the small gap to the new fence, which now neither of us can get to. As I wasn’t notified that the existing fence was staying, I hadn’t cleared the weeds I could reach either, as I’d left it as it would have been easier to do without the wire. Bizarrely the fence is only 161cm high at my end and 170cm at my neighbour’s end, so is looks oddly stepped down. You win some, you lose some!!!
