La vida de Annie

By Annie

The lovely Emma....

...life-skills provider for young adults with invisible disabilities, came to talk to us at Neurosupport today. It's the first coffee morning I've attended there for 5 months, so it was great to catch up and be made welcome. Watching the other attendees visibly relax as they entered the uniquely supportive environment, I realised this is possibly the only place where people who struggle with invisible difficulties can be themselves. No one to have to put on a brave front for, or pretend to be who we used to be because that's what they expect. No one to judge or pity us. Trina felt able to shed tears in grief at the loss of who she used to be, and everyone understood. Mostly though it was laughter we shared. A good meeting.
