Life's Little Moments

Whoosh

I was not set up for flight shots when this happened - shutter only 1/1600 when it should have been at least 1/2500 - so it is not as pin-sharp as I would have liked.  However, the spread of wings is very appealing to me, as is the rich tone of the red on this particular bird.  So a little tweaking in LR to sharpen things up a bit, and that's a wrap.  My subject today is a male House Finch, a common species across much of the US.

I did some cleaning this morning and then went into town to take care of some shopping and errands.  Back home just in time for a quick lunch and then I braved the cold temps for some photo-therapy.  Damn, but it is cold today!  And gusty winds which meant I had to be mindful of the hide trying to take flight.  After about 30 minutes, my fingers and toes were numb and I figured it was time to come in and have a cup of tea.  Even in spite of the cold, it was nice to be outside with the birds today.  By early next week our daytime highs should be into the 40's which will feel very good indeed.
