Sun, sky, beach, and snow

After a little sledging in the field we headed into town to eat lunch at Cafe Sigrid. As always the Sigrid lunch was delicious, and the buffet was perfect for our visitors. The kids could pick and choose as kids seem to like doing, but in fact they tried nearly everything!
Then we carried on to the beach where there was lots of fun on the ice, which was either resting on sand or floating on very shallow sea. (You can see in one of the extras how shallow it is.) Picking up bits of ice and throwing them into the sea was a fun sport, with a certain amount of sliding, running and falling over. As always with play when around water the kids came away a bit wet but no-one actually fell in! (I had a plan for that!)
I'm usually the adventurous one in the group, the play leader at times like this but after about an hour I suggested we head back to the cars. I just had the nervous feeling we were pushing our luck and that someone was going to fall over and hurt themselves if we kept going. I'll never know if I was right!
We walked back up the beach and sat/lay on one of the big benches looking back down over the beach (extra 2). We even saw 2 or 3 seals poking their heads out of the sea for a look around.
Eleanor and I headed home with the the children while Isaac and Jan did some shopping and stuff.
We finished the day with beans on toast. Jan had done some very tasty butter beans in tomato sauce, and there was a tin of baked beans too. Guess which ones the kids really liked!
Probably a home day tomorrow but we are promised another day of cold weather and sun! Great weather, especially when there are visitors!
