Picking Its Perch
A fallen tree has wedged itself in the middle of the flood relief channel near the wobbly bridge at Fishers Green. It is proving to be a very popular perch for the waterfowl. I watched this cormorant splashing about nearby and guessed it was going to make for it. I've captured the bird just as it lunged for its chosen wing-drying position.
The nest that I watched the great crested grebes working hard to build a couple of weeks ago has been washed away by rising waters. They were starting again this afternoon.
So lovely to see the sunshine today. I read in the paper that Tom Morgan from the Met Office said that some parts of Britain have been without sunshine for a "near record-breaking" 10 days.
