The Goose and the Common
I had an unplanned trip to Lancaster today. A combination of sinusitis, work deadlines and sleepless nights meant that some day care of our grandson was requested.
So after letting the dogs out ( we have a visitor again) I was on the road at 6:40 and arrived in Lancaster before 10am.
I had a lovely day. Playing, entertaining, shopping and getting out and about. The air was cold but wrapped up well we were fine. I found a new path which led to a nature reserve and a forested area. On the fence of the latter was this poem which was new to me. Apparently it dates to 1821 and emerged at the time of privatisation in England of common land and rails against the practice of enclosure and social injustice.
The walk was intended to give the wee man a snooze but as you can see from the extra he was very lively enjoying looking at horses, sheep, birds, dogs, cyclists etc. Ffelds of geese were a bit too far away but there were hundreds of them. Eventually, after one and a half hours he dropped off.
Round 2 tomorrow morning before heading back home mid-afternoon.
