Bringing in reinforcements
So much for resolving to be more decisive with Ruth about health... I have my own blind spots.
This morning I finally had to accept that last week's cold has become this week's chest infection. And that it couldn't be wished away any longer.
So at 8 am sharp I filled in the GP practice online triage form and soon after that I got a text offering me a mid-morning appointment at a nearby 'hub' - a large primary care centre, not our usual GP practice. Richard drove me there and a cheery nurse practitioner checked me over. "Ooh yes", she said, having listened to my chest, "It's proper snap, crackle and pop down there". She prescribed antibiotics and we picked them up from the pharmacy next door.
All done and dusted in less than an hour.
I love the NHS.
