I didn’t make the early walk yesterday so I decided to take myself off for a short walk through the St Ives woods this morning. We had JR servicing our boiler, hard to believe it was a year ago when he put it in, so Chris stayed in and I went on my own.
It was about 9.40 when I arrived at The Ivy Kitchen, I confess I knew this decorated arch was here as I’d seen when we passed on our last week’s early walk. It replaced the Christmas arch that had been only taken down a week or two before as it had been left up until Candlemas.
So I was expecting to see it, it’s a perfect blip for the day, but not expecting the cafe to be open before 10.00 am. Of course I couldn’t resist going in for a coffee. Almost empty when I arrived it soon filled up. It’s very popular with dog walkers and most people were eating. Hard sitting there being good amongst sausage and bacon sandwiches! The tables had decorations containing little red hearts amongst greenery, I confess that on first sight the impression was Christmassy!
Back home I got changed and walked back up the village for Book Group after the Tittle Tattle Tea shop. A busy session as we had two books to discuss, January’s meeting being cancelled due to the bad icy weather. Very different books but we seemed to have similar feelings about them. A Harlen Coben thriller and Elizabeth Sprout’s Olive Kitteridge. Nobody much liked the Harlen Cobden.
A dry but very cold morning again but a bit of sun appeared whilst in book group. Got some towels washed and out when I got home, more in hope than expectation.
Happy Weekend everyone, the start of half term for many here in the UK and the prospect of some higher temperatures though the weekend could see some snow in places!
