Gazing out the window

Daughter C's dog (Saffy) waits for her to return from the day teaching, and is very excited when  she comes in. The dog then needs a rest; today she got onto the sofa, and watched the gate carefully . She will bark if someone so much as pauses outside the gate. If they come through the gate she rushes to the door. She has a big bark, and epitomises the saying that 'her bark is worse than her bite'.
