Got Lost In Lostwithiel

As the weather was not as good today we had decided to visit the 'hidden treasure of Cornwall', Lostwithiel. We hadn't been there for many years, and my memory told me there wasn't a lot there. Mrsfb however had read there was a 'plethora' of antique shops so that swung it. I checked up and there was free parking too, and I assumed that at this time of the year it would be quiet. Wrong! The main car park was full. I thought there was railway station and quayside parking somewhere so we drove around in a few circles getting lost and trying to find it. Lots of one way streets, some blocked by vans. Eventually we found a space by the river.

By then we needed some lunch and found the Mess Hall which looked promising. Wrong again. The food when it arrived was OK, but somehow our order was lost, somewhere between the till and kitchen. It probably went into that black hole of nothingness that grandson Joe told me about once.

After lunch we found an antique shop, directly opposite the Mess Hall, hence the blip. It was in fact the only one we found. To be fair there were others, but they were closed. One had a sign saying the owner had just popped out for a bit, but would be back soon. I didn't believe it, as his message had a phone number attached for any enquiries.

Anyway, back in the apartment now hoping to have a Skype with daughter#2 before we go out. It's our anniversary today and we have booked one of our favourite places, Sam's. Last year it was closed for refurbishment.

In the extras - the 15th century Bridge Over The River Fowey (we drove over that a couple of times) and a daffodil by the war memorial
