Lansio llyfr am yr ardal lleol ~ Launching a book about the local area

“To the degree its ephemeral, the social photo does the opposite: it interrupts the traditional photographic mode of fixing the present as impending history, positing instead a captured moment that is indifferent to such recording.”
― Nathan Jurgenson, (The Social Photo: On Photography and Social Media)

Dim Shibashi heddiw, oherwydd roedd angladd yn y neuadd. Yn lle, cwrddais i â Nor'dzin r ôl ei grŵp llyfr ac aethon ni i Cucina Da Mara am ginio. Cawson ni Pitsa yn dilyn gan Tiramisu. Blasus iawn.

Es i i lansiad llyfr yn y prynhawn - '101 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About Whitchurch' gan Nigel Lewis. Roedd llawer o bobl yna. doeddwn i ddim yn meddwl y basai cymaint o bobl yn ddiddordeb mewn hanes lleol. Roeddwn i anghywir.

Roedd diddorol iawn clywed am yr ardal ac am y llyfr hefyd . Prynais i gopi o'r llyfr, wrth gwrs, ac rydw i'n edrych ymlaen at ei ddarllen.

Un o bethau mwyaf synnu heddiw roedd gwraig oedd yn fy nghofio o ddyddiau ysgol - hanner can mlynedd yn ôl. Roedd hi'n dal adnabod fi ar ôl cymaint o amser hir. Dydw i ddim yn meddwl fy mod i'n edrych pymtheg oed nawr, a dydw i ddim yn meddwl edrychais i chwedeg pump oed pan roeddwn i yn yr ysgol. Felly marciau llawn iddi hi am ei chanfyddiad hi. Rydw i'n rhyfeddu. Mae hi'n aelod o'r grŵp sy'n edrych i mewn hanes lleol, felly rydw i'n siŵr gwelaf i hi eto yn y dyfodol. Ond efallai nid hanner can mlynedd yn y dyfodol.

No Shibashi today, because there was a funeral in the hall. Instead, I met Nor'dzin after her book group and we went to Cucina Da Mara for lunch. We had Pizza followed by Tiramisu. Delicious.

I went to a book launch in the afternoon - '101 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About Whitchurch' by Nigel Lewis. There were many people there. I didn't think so many people would be interested in local history. I was wrong.

It was very interesting to hear about the area and about the book too. I bought a copy of the book, of course, and I'm looking forward to reading it.

One of the most surprising things today was a woman who remembered me from school days - fifty years ago. She still recognized me after such a long time. I don't think I look fifteen now, and I don't think I looked sixty-five when I was at school. So full marks to her for her perception. I'm amazed. She is a member of the group looking into local history, so I'm sure I'll see her again in the future. But maybe not fifty years in the future.
