Went to my lovely GP today. I have well advanced osteoarthritis with a “bone on bone” joint. She was very sympathetic and has ordered stronger pain relief and referral to the hydrotherapy pool at the hospital. She has also given me forms to take to get a temporary disabled parking ticket and suggests I do less walking. My main reason for seeing her was to talk about taking a new drug Gabapentin for my hot flushes. I have trialled them for 2 weeks and am pleased to say they are a lot less intense but still there. They are usually used for epilepsy or neuropathetic pain. There are many side effects in higher doses including ‘unfriendliness’. I haven’t seen that as a S/E before. .
