Shanks's pony
Today's weather was even worse than yesterday. It was dark, dismal, miserable, rainy and very cold. A day to stay indoors.... but I had to go to Gateshead to collect my new glasses from the opticians. I had a pick up time of 1.40pm. I got to Gateshead a bit earlier and looked in a couple of shops.
Got my glasses..... however I'm not too pleased with them as I can't see any better than I could with my old ones. I will give them a few days and then I might go back to the opticians. I know that with cataracts my vision will still be poor but I was promised that the new glasses would make my vision a bit better while I'm waiting for the cataract op.
I popped into Tesco before getting my bus home. I was feeling cold and wet when I got in the house so I got straight into my PJs and put the fire on in the living room. Of course I soon fell asleep for an hour or so.
Took my blip shot in Gateshead just across the road from the Transport Interchange. The Wide Wednesday theme is " Transport ". I stood for a while waiting for a bus to appear but gave up and just took a shot of this lady walking or using " shanks's pony " . The term "shanks' pony" refers to using one's own legs as a means of transportation. It originated in Scotland in the 18th century and is a play on words that uses "shank" to refer to the lower part of the leg. There are a couple of bikes and vehicles in the shot too to add to the transport theme. Thanks to BobsBlips for hosting.
